Privacy Policy
This policy explains how MalayalamQuran.in handles information when you read, search, listen, use prayer-time features, or contact the project.
Scope and commitment
MalayalamQuran.in is an independent Quran study platform. We aim to collect the minimum information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and communicate about the service.
Information processed during ordinary use
Web servers and security systems may process technical request data such as IP address, request time, requested resource, response status, and browser headers. This information may be required for delivery, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and infrastructure security.
Quran search terms are processed to return matching public content. Search analytics are kept in a separate operational table and are not written into Quran, translation, tafsir, publication, ebook, or other content records.
Quran search analytics
When the centrally managed Quran search analytics feature is enabled, an initial search submission records its date and time, submitted keyword, result count, and—where available and enabled—the request IP address plus inferred browser, operating-system and device category. Pagination is not counted as a new search.
The report is restricted to WordPress administrators. Browser and operating-system descriptions are inferred from request headers and may be incomplete or inaccurate because browsers, privacy software and automated clients can suppress or change those headers. IP accuracy also depends on the site owner selecting the header that is securely set by the active hosting or CDN proxy.
Optional traffic measurement
If the separate privacy-minimized traffic monitor is enabled, it records reduced page-view metrics such as coarse country, browser/OS category, device class, referrer hostname, bot estimate, and a rotating pseudonymous visitor-day value.
That monitor is designed not to store raw IP addresses, full user-agent strings, exact location, complete referrer URLs, Quran search terms, cookies, or cross-day identifiers. Hosting or CDN logs remain separate from this custom monitor.
Prayer time and browser location
Location access is requested only through the browser when needed for local prayer-time calculation. If permission is granted, coordinates are sent directly from the browser to the configured prayer-time service. The custom MQ V2 code does not store those coordinates in WordPress.
You can deny or revoke location permission through your browser or device settings. Prayer times are calculated estimates and may differ from a local mosque timetable.
Contact communications
Email, WhatsApp, and telephone actions are initiated by you. Your communication, account identifiers, and related metadata are then handled by your email, telecommunications, or messaging provider and by the receiving account.
The on-page WhatsApp composer prepares a draft locally and does not save the message to the MalayalamQuran.in database. Nothing is sent until you confirm it in WhatsApp.
Cookies and local storage
The custom public MQ V2 modules do not intentionally use cookies or browser storage for Quran reading, search, sharing, contact drafting, or location persistence.
WordPress may use strictly necessary cookies for administrators, authenticated sessions, security, comments, or other enabled functionality. Third-party services may apply their own technologies when you open or use them. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
Sharing and service providers
Information may be processed by hosting, CDN, security, email, telecommunications, analytics, prayer-time, document, audio, or social-platform providers where those services are enabled or requested. We do not represent that external providers follow this policy; their own terms and privacy notices apply.
Retention and security
Operational information is retained only for as long as reasonably required for its stated purpose, legal obligations, security, backup integrity, or dispute handling. Quran search analytics use a centrally bounded 7–365 day retention period and are removed by a scheduled daily cleanup. The optional traffic monitor has its own separate bounded retention period.
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute confidentiality, availability, or security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law and the information held, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or clarification. You can also disable location, block cookies, avoid external platforms, or contact the project using the method most suitable to you.
Children, changes, and contact
The service is intended for general Quran learning and is not designed to solicit personal information from children. Guardians should supervise communications and third-party service use where appropriate.
This policy may be updated when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date shown above identifies the current published version. Questions may be submitted through the Contact Us page.
